In Loving Memory of Gregory Allan Elston Jr.
March 12, 2006 – September 9, 2026
Gregory Allan Elston Jr., affectionately known as “Gamer Greg” to his friends and “G-Money” to his family, passed away on September 9, 2026, at just 20 years old. Though his time on this earth was far too short, Gregory filled his 20 years with an extraordinary amount of love, laughter, faith, friendship, and joy. He was a bright light in this world, and his light will continue to shine through every life he touched.
Gregory was born on March 12, 2006, and was born and raised in San Diego, California. He was the beloved son of his father, Gregory Elston, and his mother, Jasmine Majors, and the beloved stepson of Esther Rendon-Elston. He was a loving brother to his sisters, Amaya Elston and Kahleah Speaks. Gregory was also deeply loved by his grandparents, Wilma Jean Murchison, Leonard David Elston III, and Elena Hernandez, and his great-grandmother, Jacky Elston. He also shared a special place in his heart for his dog, Carlo, who was part of the family Gregory loved so dearly.
Gregory graduated from Bonita Vista High School in 2024. Before graduating, Gregory was given an honor that brought him tremendous happiness when his fellow students chose him as Prom King. It was a special moment because it reflected something his family already knew—the tremendous amount of love people had for Gregory. He loved his classmates and friends just as genuinely as they loved him.
Music was a major part of Gregory’s life. It was rare to see him without his headphones on, listening to something upbeat. Much of the music he listened to was Christian music, reflecting the faith that was at the center of his life.
Gregory loved the Lord and was never ashamed to let anyone know that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. He regularly attended Rock Church with his family, but Gregory did more than simply attend. He served. As a member of the church’s hospitality team, Gregory welcomed people, greeted them with his joyful personality, and helped them find their seats. He also volunteered for Toys for Joy for three consecutive years, giving his time to help bring happiness to others.
That desire to serve was not something Gregory only displayed at church. It was part of who he was. Gregory had a servant’s heart and was always looking for ways to help his family, friends, and those around him. He possessed a genuinely giving heart and found happiness in doing things for others.
Gregory worked at AMC Theatres, where he truly enjoyed spending time with his coworkers and interacting with guests. In typical Gregory fashion, he even had his own special way of saying goodbye. He would tell guests and coworkers:
“AMC you later!”
That simple phrase captured so much of Gregory’s personality—funny, playful, warm, and able to bring a smile to the people around him.
Gregory had an enormous sense of humor. His laugh was contagious, unmistakable, and filled with joy. He had the kind of personality that made people want to be around him. Whether he was joking with family, spending time with friends, listening to music, or playing video games, Gregory brought an energy into the room that was uniquely his.
Some of Gregory’s happiest memories were made doing the things he loved with the people he loved. He enjoyed playing video games with his family and friends and watching superhero movies and television shows with his family. Gregory also enjoyed special activities with his mother, Jasmine, including going fishing and visiting Dave & Buster’s to play games. From the time he was a little boy, Gregory also shared a special tradition with his father—attending San Diego Comic-Con together. What began as a father taking his little boy to experience superheroes and Comic-Con became years of memories that his father will carry with him forever.
Gregory was a son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, coworker, servant of God, gamer, music and movie lover, and so much more. To those fortunate enough to know him, however, titles could never fully describe what Gregory meant to them.
He was Gamer Greg to friends.
He was G-Money to family.
He was Little G to his parents.
He was the young man with the headphones on and the contagious laugh.
He was the coworker saying,
“AMC you later!”
He was the friend people wanted to be around.
He was the family member who wanted to help.
He was the young man greeting people as they entered church.
He was the son whose father watched grow from a little boy attending Comic-Con beside him into a young man who openly loved and served Jesus Christ.
Above all, Gregory was deeply loved.
While his family would have wanted many more years, many more laughs, many more superhero movies, many more games, and many more memories with him, they find comfort in knowing that Gregory knew Jesus Christ and openly accepted Him as his Savior.
Gregory was a bright light in this world, and on September 9, 2026, God called that light home.
His family will miss his voice. They will miss his jokes. They will miss seeing him with his headphones on. They will miss playing games and watching movies with him. They will miss his giving heart, his humor, and especially that contagious laugh.
But they will never stop loving him.
And they will never stop saying his name.
Gregory Allan Elston Jr. — “Gamer Greg” — “G-Money.”
Twenty years was not nearly enough, but the love Gregory gave during those twenty years will last a lifetime.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Isaiah 57:1–2
"The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart;
the devout are taken away, and no one understands
that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace;
they find rest as they lie in death.” — Isaiah 57:1–2
Until we see you again Little G.
