COCO LAURETTA HALL

 March 2, 1938 – July 14, 2024

Do not stand at my grave and weep – I’m not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle Autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the mourning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die.

  • A poem from Coco

Coco Hall went to greet the Great Spirit on July 14, 2024.

She was born in 1938 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Above all, Coco’s life was defined by her love and dedication to her family.

Her career as a Psychiatric Nurse provided the opportunity to touch and change many lives. A role that defined her and for over 30 years made a positive impact, improving the daily life of those entrusted to her care.

Coco was an avid reader and enjoyed writing short stories and poetry. Her compassion for animals was also ever apparent. She also loved Reggae music, thrifting, garage sales and festivals. Never one to sit still, she looked forward to her annual cross-country road trips with her best friend and side kick, Tony. Together they would travel, with no destination in mind, exploring what was around the next turn.

Many hilarious stories and escapades will remain in our memories from their precious times together. Her sense of humor was also refreshing, quirky and often outlandish, taking her experiences and turning them into hysterical moments that made you laugh so hard one could barely catch their breath. Coco was also very much at home in the water. She loved the beach, rivers and lakes, often reminiscing about her time spent on the Mississippi.

She will be greatly missed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, care giver and friend.

Coco is survived by her beloved husband, Anthony (Tony) Hall, her children, Michael Dickerson, Mitchell Dickerson, Medina Clarke (Rohan Clarke) and Michelle Jones, grandchildren, Matthew McChristian, Jessica Johnson (Brandon Johnson), Jamaal Dickerson, Jamie Dickerson, Myles Jones, Jarod Dickerson, and great granddaughter, Madison Johnson.
